Lamatherm provides a simple, effective fire break barrier between floors, that sits behind the rainscreen cladding and stops the spread of fire in the airflow cavity behind the cladding.
Lamatherm is manufactured by Siderise, who have been developing bespoke fire, thermal and acoustic insulation solutions for over 40 years. The Lamatherm fire barrier allows for continuous ventilation and drainage behind the cladding while providing a hot smoke and fire seal when triggered. Both Lamatherm products are composed of a non-combustible stone mineral wool lamella core, faced on exposed surfaces with a class O fire rated reinforced aluminium foil. This Lamatherm system includes products for both horizontal and vertical solutions.
The following SIDERISE products are available.
SIDERISE RH ‘Open State’ horizontal cavity barriers are specifically used in drained and ventilated facades. The system will drain any moisture within the façade construction, as well as maintain airflow. The system will provide an effective hot smoke and fire seal in the case of fire. The Siderise ‘Open State’ systems are available for cavities up to 25mm RH25(G/S) and 50mm RH50(G/S).
SIDERISE RV vertical cavity barriers fully seal the void between the external envelope and internal structure. The cavity barrier assists ventilated facades to function by maintaining air-pressurisation. The products unique stonewool lamella core enables the vertical barriers to accommodate movement, associated with rainscreen facades. Intersections between horizontal and vertical cavity barriers are simply abutted.
Lamatherm has been tested and approved by Warrington Fire Research Centre (WFRC) and the barriers are available to suit 30, 60, 90 and 120 minute applications. Lamatherm is suitable for use in cavities widths up to 425mm wide and is able to close a 25mm and 50mm gap under fire conditions. This fire cavity barrier is economical and easy to install. Lamatherm is supplied in 1200mm long strips and can be pre-cut in width to suit advised void size.
