Hours - 8.30am to 5.30pm with an hour for lunch.

Established in London in 1999, Vivalda has grown organically into the UK’s leading supplier of specialist building materials used within the construction industry.Our unrivalled expertise in external decorative cladding & building boards has lead to 12 years of uninterrupted growth and profit.Over the years we have added branches in Birmingham, Hull and Manchester and have firm plans to expand in 2012.To assist us at this exciting time for Vivalda, we would like to appoint a building board trader for the London Branch, who will report directly to the Branch Manager. This is an office based role in a fast moving environment also requiring occasional customer visits. Vivalda is growing fast, and we’d like you to help us stay ahead of the game.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following areas:
- Buying and selling building & fire protection boards
- Buying and selling cement based external cladding boards
- Raising quotations for customers and following these up
- Continuous relationship building with suppliers and customers alike
- Keeping abreast of new products and specification changes in this sector
- Researching market prices and reacting to stay one step ahead of the competition
- Organising deliveries to customers and passing on requirements to transport
This is an excellent all encompassing role that will provide a great challenge to the right individual. You will be in charge of all the buying and quoting for this sector of products, enabling you to shape the department as you wish. You will need to be an enthusiastic, quick thinking individual who is willing to learn and has attention to detail.The ability to communicate with our customers and suppliers and react quickly is key to the success of this role. You will be working as part of a close knit office team of 9 who are supportive of each other and will help you to find your feet.
Requirements
- The ability to think on your feet and secure the order at the best sell price to maximize profit.
- Quick reactions to secure time sensitive orders at the right prices.
- 18 months experience in an office based sales role, preferably for product systems with multiple items.
- At least 12 months experience in buying products for resale.
- A good head for figures.
- The ability to get on with suppliers and customers alike.
- Experience in using Outlook (e-mails, Word).
- Good Excel skills are an advantage, as is previous experience in loading data onto the ACT system.
Education
Minimum 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including Maths and English and 2 A levels at grade D or above (or equivalent) are required. Maths A level is an advantage.
