Viroc

This structural board is a smooth highly durable cement particle board, ideal for use in load-bearing applications. Viroc also provides sound insulation, impact resistance and moisture resistance. Vivalda offer very competitive rates on this versatile board. Viroc also provides sound insulation, impact resistance and moisture resistance.

It can be used as an alternative to chipboard or plywood when there is a need for one or more of these properties.

Viroc can be used for a variety of general purpose applications including infill panels, fascia panels and barge boards. Can also be used as an insulated render system.

Fixing/Drilling

Use normal high speed drills. Do not use percussion drills. Place scrap board beneath the drilling location to ensure a clean hole. Use drill bits with HSS steel tips.

Nailing, screwing & stapling

Up to 12mm thick Viroc can be manually nailed without pre-drilling. For thicker boards pre-drill with slightly oversize holes. When power nailing, boards up to 24mm thick can be nailed without pre-drilling, and also shot-fired. When screwing with conventional screws, pre-drill with a slightly oversize hole. Pre-drilling is not required for any thickness when using modified TEK screws.

Jointing

For acoustic application any gaps should be filled with a high performance, high modulus flexible acoustic sealant.

Installation

Boards should be installed with 3mm joint gap to allow for movement.

Cutting

Viroc can be hand cut with an ordinary cross cut saw. Power saws with a tungsten carbide blade can also be used. Viroc is not suitable for rough cutting.
